NORTH CRAWFORD - North Crawford struggled with a strong Ithaca football team, when they hosted the Bulldogs last Thursday, losing 32-14.

Ithaca led at the end of the first quarter 6-0 and expanded that lead, when the scored 13 more points in the second quarter. They led 19-0 at halftime and scored in the third quarter to make it 25-0.

The Trojans rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring two touchdowns on passes from quarterback John Volden to wide receiver Skyler Olson. It was too little, too late, but it may have proved something to the North Crawford teamthey could play with Ithaca.

“We seemed to commit turnovers each time we had momentum in the first three quarters,” head coach Kyle Oldenburg said later.
In the fourth quarter, we got things rolling a bit, but it was late.

“Ithaca was very physical and we didn’t do a great job of matching that,” Oldenburg said. “This week we will make the long trip to Turtle Lake (200 miles) to take on a very solid team that loves to throw the football. It’ll be a great experience.”

For the game, Volden was 10-18 passing for a total of 135 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. Brent Jelinek had four carries for 59 yards and Kenny Spencer had 24 carries for 54 yards. Skyler Olson caught three passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns, while Thomas Turben caught four passes for 35 yards.
