          SOUTH WAYNE — Junior Sammy Lovelace slammed down seven kills, four service aces and two blocks to lead Black Hawk to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Pecatonica Vikings in a Six Rivers East opener at BHHS on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

     The Warriors (2–0 SRE) jumped out early and routed the Vikings (1–1) by a score of 25–8 in set one. A spike kill by senior Aleigha Sigafus put the hosts up 7–2, and junior Elizabeth Holland followed by serving up seven straight points to extend the lead to 14-2.

     Senior libero Megan Gobeli added a four-point run later in the set to get the Warriors to game-point and Lovelace ended it with a spike kill.

     Set two was a tight back and forth affair between the two rivals. Black Hawk trailed by as many as four points during the set, but rallied to tie the score at 24 all on a Viking hitting error.

     The Warriors took the lead on another Pec error, and then Sigafus followed with a kill to put the hosts ahead 2–0 with a 26–24 win.

     The lead changed hands four times early in set three until an ace by Sigafus put the Lady Warriors ahead to stay. Black Hawk extended the lead to 19–12 on a kill by Kayla Sigafus, who went on to serve up the next four points to put them up 23–12.

     The Warriors went on to win the set by a score of 25–14 to finish off the sweep.

     A. Sigafus recorded seven kills, while Jordyn Delzer registered four kills and three blocks on the night. Setter Brooke Moore handed out 11 assists and served up two aces for the Warriors.

     Clara Moen had three kills and Britt Miller had three blocks for the Vikings. Liz Tisch chipped in with nine assists and three aces for the guests.

     Black Hawk has tough SRE matches at Argyle on Thursday, Sept. 10, and at Monticello on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The Lady Warriors will also compete at the Lancaster Volleyball Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, starting at 9 a.m.
