    MINERAL POINT – Black Hawk 113-pounder Jared Pickett had his stellar sophomore season come to a close after going 0-2 on the mats at the 2012 WIAA Division 3 Individual Sectional Meet held at Mineral Point High School on Saturday, Feb. 18.
    Pickett (30-18) opened his first-ever sectional appearance by dropping a 10-0 major decision to Deerfield junior Fritz Vogel (41-7) in a quarterfinal match at 113.
    Pickett received a chance at a wrestleback after Vogel posted a 6-4 decision over Brookwood sophomore Josh Marten (35-6) in a semifinal showdown.
    Marten won by technical fall decision over Pickett in 4:26 during the consolation semifinal round, but the Falcon missed out on earning a state berth after falling 12-8 to Boscobel junior Ryan Mindham (39-9) to finish in fourth-place.
    Vogel dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Mineral Point senior Deven Walrack (36-3) in the finals at 113, however he finished second in the class thanks to an 8-1 decision over Mindham in a wrestleback match.
