POTOSI – The Potosi varsity boys’ basketball team snapped a five-game losing skid this past Monday night with a 60-26 victory over host Belmont.

With the win, coach Mike Uppena’s squad is now 4-2 in Six Rivers West conference action, and 6-6 overall.

The Chieftains went into the holiday break with an overall record of 5-1 before losing five straight games after Christmas, including back-to-back conference losses to River Ridge and Shullsburg, who currently occupy the top two spots in the league standings.

After suffering a heartbreaking 56-53 loss to the Timberwolves on Thursday, Jan. 9, the Potosi boys followed with a 56-45 loss to the visiting Miners last Tuesday night.
