The Bulldogs hosted Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern for a wrestling dual last Friday, Dec. 11, losing 30-27 as a team.

Dakota Frazier (132) won against Alex Wright, 15-13. Frazier scored on a takedown in the first period, followed by a pair of takedowns and a two-point near fall in the second. He finished off the third period with another two-point near fall and a pair of reversals.

Chase Beinborn (138) won over Alex Busch 12-5. He scored on an escape and a takedown in the first period. The second period saw him score on two-point and a three-point near falls and a second takedown. The third period saw him score again with a third takedown.

Casey Frey (185) won over Hakiem Belhaj 7-0. Frey scored on a pair of takedowns in the first and third period. He also scored a three-point near fall in the third period.

Frazier, Beinborn, and Frey scored three points each for the team.

Brandon Mindham (120 weight class), Austin Jones (126), and Preston Baker (182) each earned six points on forfeits for Boscobel. Jake Neis (220) earned six points on forfeit for Cuba City.

“Overall, I was impressed with the improvements I saw from our wrestlers,” said coach Bobby Harry. “With four periodes under their belt, they really took a step forward on being comfortable out on the mat.”

Improved confidence was evident, according to the coach. He noted that the dual saw five freshmen on the varsity lineup.

“This is a very young team and to only lose by three points when they are competing against a team that is largely composed of upper classmen really speaks well of their progress,” Harry added.

The Bulldogs will host Riverdale in a dual on Friday at 7 p.m. They travel to Richland Center on Saturday, Dec. 19 for an invitational, competing against Baraboo, Belmont, Ithaca, River Ridge, Belleville, Hillsboro and Richland Center at 10 a.m.
