Lancaster freshman Lydia Murphy broke a 20-year school record in the 3,200 last Thursday night at the Lancaster Invite. Murphy ran the two-mile in a time of 11:48.84, breaking the previous time of 12:09.00 set in 1996 by Jenny Fulton

At last Thursday night’s Lancaster Invite, Lancaster freshman Lydia Murphy broke a 20-year-old school record in the 3,200 with a time of 11:48.84, breaking the previous mark of 12:09.00 set in 1996 by Jenny Fulton. Nicole Wolf also placed second in the 800 (2:36.20), while Devin Wagner was second in the 200 (:28.69).

The Lancaster boys were led by the 4x100 relay team of Evan Gates, Jack Schaffer, Matthew Withey and Garrett Birkett, who placed third with a time of :47.49. Schaffer also placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5’8”.

This past Monday evening, Lancaster competed at the Prairie du Chien Relays, where the boys’ placed ninth of 13 teams, and the girls seventh of 12.

Jack Schaffer led the boys’ team with a first-place finish in the high jump (5’10”) and a fifth-place finish in the long jump (19’8.25”). He also helped lead the 800 sprint medley relay team of Evan Gates, Matt Withey and Garrett Birkett to a third-place finish.

For the Lancaster ladies, the 4x200 relay team of Devin Wagner, Maria Faltin, Ashton Doll and Crystalyn Mish took top honors with a time of 1:54.80, while Murphy placed second in the 400 (1:02.93), Wagner third in the long jump (16’1.5”) and Doll third in the 400 (1:03.47).

Last Tuesday night, the Lancaster boys and girls track teams were at Spring Green for a River Valley Triangular with Dodgeville/Mineral Point.

On the boys side, sophomore Austin Mumm won the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:55.71, while Harrison Stone won the 300 hurdles in a time of :46.79. Also bringing home a first-place finish was the 4x100 relay team of Evan Gates, Jack Schaffer, Matt Withey and Garrett Birkett (:47.53).

On the girls side, freshman Devin Wagner won the long jump (15’6”), senior Alexis Galvan the shot put (29’1”) and senior Ashton Doll the discus (83’11”). Also winning first-place honors was the the 4x800 relay team of Maddie Hampton, Nicole Wolf, Crystalyn Mish and Doll (10:38.40)
