Grant County sheriff’s deputies made two arrests for drunk driving after cars went off roads overnight Dec. 21.

The first was on Wisconsin 35 near University Farm Road Dec. 21 around 11:30 p.m., when a sheriff’s deputy found a car in the ditch on the south side of the road. When the deputy got out of his squad car, Joseph McCabe, 32, Lancaster, got out of the car and “appeared heavily intoxicated,” according to sheriff’s deputies.

McCabe was arrested for third-offense drunk driving and cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.

The second was on Grant County D near Butson Road Dec. 22 around 3:35 p.m., when the Sheriff’s Department received a report from the driver of a car in a ditch.

After a search of the area, the driver was found on North Second Street near Golfview Drive, not on County D, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Don R. Clapp, 42, Platteville, was arrested for second-offense drunk driving.
