Platteville police report more phone scams

Platteville police reported two new phone scams Monday.

One was a spam phone call from (608) 348-6267, which belongs to a local resident whose number was compromised. The other was a call about a non-repayable $7,000 loan from (716) 280-7577.

The police phone number, 348-2313, has been used as a claimed call from the Internal Revenue Service requiring payment for supposedly overdue taxes. The IRS does not make phone calls, according to police.

Anyone who receives a scam phone call should call local law enforcement.
