Friday is the state’s annual third-Friday school enrollment count.

The third-Friday enrollment count is one of the three determining factors of state school aid. School districts with larger enrollment get more state aid.

The state Department of Public Instruction provides a list of school district enrollments. The chart shows enrollments, ranked from largest to smallest in the 2012–13 school year, in school districts in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference (including Platteville), Southwest Wisconsin Activities League (including Iowa–Grant), Six Rivers Conference (including Belmont and Potosi) and Ridge & Valley Conference.

School district enrollments in those four conferences dropped 1.24 percent from 2010–11 to 2011–12 and 0.23 percent from 2011–12 to 2012–13.

However, enrollments over those three school years increased in Platteville (3.68 percent), Belmont (2.24 percent) and Potosi (6.42 percent). Enrollments decreased 1.3 percent in the Iowa–Grant School District over those three school years.
