Badger Boys, Girls from PHS picked

Platteville High School juniors will be attending Badger Boys State and Badger Girls State this summer.

•    Michael Donovan, Adam Roberts and David Wawrzak were selected by PHS faculty as representatives to Badger Boys’ State, with Max Frommelt selected as an alternate.

Each high school in Wisconsin selects boys to attend this week-long summer camp, held on the campus of Ripon College.

The camp is sponsored by the American Legion and emphasizes citizenship, leadership and patriotism. Camp participants will be involved in mock elections and civic activities as well as recreational and motivational activities. Local sponsors of the program include American Legion Post 42, the Platteville Optimist Club and the Platteville Kiwanis Club.

•    Elissa Bahr, Beth Gardiner and McKenzie Scanlan were selected by PHS staff along with alternates Allie Serres and Eramis Momchilovich to attend Badger Girls State.

Each high school in Wisconsin selects girls to attend this week-long summer camp, held on the campus of UW–Oshkosh June 15–20.

Badger Girls’ State offers training in the practical processes of self-government and good citizenship as practiced in a democratic society.

The girls are selected by the faculty of the school based on the qualities of character, leadership and citizenship. Each summer approximately 20,000 young women participate in Girls’ State sessions across the nation.
