Darlington School Board establishes tax levy

The school board of the Darlington Community School District established the 2013-2014 tax levy at their meeting on Monday evening, Nov. 4.
    The total tax levy for the 2013-2014 school year will be $3,390,705 and the mill rate will be 0.01227.
    During the presentation of the tax levy numbers, district administrator Denise Wellnitz noted that pupil count was up in the district and that will help in the future.
    The total amount of aid received from the state was $4,883,770, which was a decrease from last year’s amount. 
    Also during the school board meeting board members approved a motion to allow the administration of the school district to solicit bids for and liquidate the old Darlington High School field scoreboard as well as the purchase of technology equipment.
