Express your opinion on Platteville school building options

The Platteville School District is seeking the opinions of school district residents about which direction it should take with its school buildings.

The Facility Options Survey can be found on the school district’s website home page, www.platteville.k12.wi.us. The survey is underneath the facility study done by Plunkett Raysich Architects of Milwaukee earlier this year.

The survey outlines four options narrowed down in the facility survey, plus the fifth option of no building project at all:
•    “Priority maintenance projects and code compliance options.”
•    Additionally address “educational space needs” and “building security” with the current grade-level divisions in the school district’s four buildings, which would cost an estimated $19.5 million.
•    Move fourth grade from Platteville Middle School to Westview Elementary School, which would cost an estimated $18.7 million.
•    Move seventh and eighth grade to Platteville High School, close either Westview or Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center, and move elementary grades to the grade school kept open, which would cost an estimated $14.7 million.

The survey also asks participants to rank the five options.

Paper copies of the survey are available at the school district office at Platteville Middle School and at the Platteville Public Library.
