Three from area receive PIA Young Professional scholarships

The Professional Insurance Agents Young Professional Club along with Wisconsin Mutual and Hanover Insurance presented 10 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college seniors.

Tricor Insurance announced that Samantha Stewart, Cameron Cashman and Tim Fritz were local recipients. The $25,000 scholarships were awarded to deserving high school and college students going into or majoring in an insurance-related field.

Tim Fritz, son of David and Lois Fritz, is a graduate of Potosi High School 2013. Tim is attending Waubonsee Junior College in Sugar Grove, Ill., where he will major in Business and be playing baseball for the college team. During his high school career Fritz helped lead the Chieftains to appearances in the state football finals and state baseball tournament. In his free time Fritz started a business of making personally crafted wooden bats.

Samantha Stewart, daughter of Kelly and Sheri Stewart, is a senior at UW–Oshkosh majoring in Business Marketing with an emphasis in sales. She is a member of the UW–Oshkosh marketing club. Samantha is a JV soccer coach for Oshkosh North High School and club coach for Oshkosh United Soccer Club. She is also a Big Sister in the Big Brothers/Sisters Club in Oshkosh. Currently she is interning with the Green Bay Packers. She will graduate in May.

Cameron Cashman is the son of Mark and Pam Cashman. He was the valedictorian of Boscobel High School’s graduating class of 2013. Cashman is attending UW–Madison to major in Biomedical Engineering. In high School Cashman was active in cross country, wrestling, track, FFA and Student Council. In his free time Cashman enjoys four-wheeling, hunting and dirt bikes.

The PIA is a non-profit trade association of independent insurance agents which has more than 620 agencies across Wisconsin. The Young Professionals Club is dedicated to helping younger people in their insurance careers.
