Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for November and December are: Nov. 29-Jane Howery presents a slide show of her trip to the Himalayas at 6 p.m.; Nov. 30-Lego Club @ 3:45 p.m. for ages 7-11; Dec. 2-Rudoplh’s Reindeer Games with ornament making, story time and reindeer snacks from 10 a.m. to noon; Dec. 6-A Magical Night with The Snowman with live music, hot chocolate & cookies by the fire and a movie @ 6 p.m.

Chicken Dinner
DARLINGTON – The Darlington American Legion Post #214 will NOT hold its Steak & Chicken Dinner during the months of December and January.
Hoops for Hope
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Hoops Club will host Hoops for Hope to raise monies for the Lafayette County Relay for Life. Hoops for Hope will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 when the Darlington Girls’ Basketball team plays Mineral Point and Friday, Dec. 8 when the Darlington Boys’ Basketball teams also plays Mineral Point. The Hoops Club will have basket raffles and 50/50 raffles at both games. T-shirts were sold in a pre-sale as a fundraiser as well. Get out your Hoops for Hope or Relay for Life t-shirts and support the Lafayette County Relay for Life as they help the fight against cancer. food pantry
DARLINGTON – The monthly second harvest mobile food pantry will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 4-5 p.m. The pantry is held in a lower level of Town Bank. There are no income eligibility limits for people wishing to participate. Volunteers are needed from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Volunteers can help with any or all of the hours of the pantry. To volunteer you can contact Carrie at1608- 293-0791 or simply come to the pantry and register as a volunteer on that day.
Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus
DARLINGTON – Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Holy Rosary Church Basement on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 8-10 a.m. Cost is $5, kids ages 3 and under are free. Bring your camera to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Children’s Christmas Party
BELMONT – Make your list and check it twice, because Santa will know if you’ve been naughty or nice. The Belmont Lions Club will be sponsoring a Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9-11 a.m. in the Belmont School Cafeteria. Santa will arrive at 9:30 a.m. Don’t forget to bring your camera for pictures!
Lighted Christmas Parade
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Lighted Christmas parade will be Dec. 2 starting at 6:30 p.m. Living windows starts at 5:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Downtown Businesses. The Driver Opera House will host cocoa and carols starting at 5 p.m. at Mike’s Engine Works Showroom. Visit with Santa and watch the floating trees being lit and view Riverside Reflections after the parade at the Festival at the Park.
4-H Christmas Caroling
WIOTA – Wiota Happy Hour 4-H Club will be Christmas Caroling on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3:00 p.m. in the Village of Wiota.  Following the caroling the Club will return to the School House in Wiota for hot cocoa, treats, and a brief meeting.
Santa at Gratiot Annex Library
GRATIOT – Santa Claus will be at Gratiot Annex Library on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.  Bring the kids to visit Santa and enjoy a variety of activities!
Santa at McCoy Library
SHULLSBURG – Santa Claus will be at McCoy Public Library in Shullsburg on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.! There will also be kids activities. Bring the family early to enjoy carolers from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
Immanuel United Church Bazaar
DARLINGTON – The Immanuel’s Christmas Bazaar that will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9. Stop on in to gobble up some great goodies to take to any Christmas party or keep for yourself.
DFD Chili Luncheon and Open House
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Fire Department will be having their 3rd Annual Community Appreciation Chili Luncheon and Open House on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Darlington Fire Department from 12-3 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Please stop down and see their wonderful firehouse and chat with DFD members about the work they do and help them improve their understanding of the community’s needs.
Live Nativity
DARLINGTON – The Immanuel United Church of Christ has will have their Live Nativity on Wednesday evening, Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Along with the Live Nativity IUCC would like to invite everyone to join them in the fellowship hall for refreshments and some good old-fashioned camaraderie. Might even be some Christmas carols being sung! Hope the community will join us!!
Drive-Thru Nativity
DARLINGTON – The First Baptist Church of Darlington will be having a Drive-Thru Nativity on Dec. 15 and 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is a free event featuring caroling, hot beverages and a live nativity scene all from the comfort of your car. The event will take place in the First Baptist Church parking lot at 15691 County K in Darlington.
McCoy Library Afternoon Movie
SHULLSBURG – McCoy Public Library will also be hosting an early release movie for kids through 5th grade on Friday, Dec. 22 at 1:15 p.m.
Community Blood Drive
LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. The MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Sixteen year olds are accepted with parental consent. New donors must bring a photo ID and another form of ID.
