Two Soldiers Grove men were injured early Feb. 20 in a two-vehicle crash in the town of Kickapoo.

Clayton Neprud, 44, and Jerry Schaller, 62, were both transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua after the accident, which happened east of Readstown on US Hwy. 14 near Espe Road.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Neprud, was driving east when his vehicle spun out of control on the icy highway. It crossed the center line and struck  Schaller’s westbound vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the highway blocking the westbound lane.

Both Schaller and Neprud were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred.

Assisting at the scene were the Readstown Fire Department, Readstown EMS and Kickapoo Rescue Squad.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
