TOWN OF SEYMOUR – A 65-year-old Darlington man died and a 45-year-old Fennimore man was injured in a vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer and a farm tractor on Wisconsin 81 west of Darlington Thursday afternoon. Charles T. Lattin was operating his farmer tractor carrying a large round bale of corn stalks west on 81 east of County O around 5:23 p.m. when a semi driven by Timothy D. Klass, also traveling west, struck the tractor from behind, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. Lattin was ejected from the cab and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette County Coroner’s Office. Klaas was transported by Rural Medical Ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Wisconsin 81 was detoured for several hours due to the crash investigation and cleanup. Lafayette County deputies were assisted by the Darlington Fire Department, Rural Medical Ambulance, Lafayette County Highway Department, Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Carrier Inspectors and the Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction team. The crash remains under investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
