In a three-way write-in contest, Rob Krantz, owner of Krantz Auto and Repair and Krantz Hardware, was elected as mayor of the City of Fennimore during the spring election held last Tuesday, April 7.

Krantz received 230 votes, while Rick Govier, a retired employee of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, collected 175 votes, and Noah Hamann of Afflicted Productions did not receive any write-ins.

Krantz will be replacing Ryan Boebel, who chose not to seek reelection after serving as the city’s mayor for 10 years.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the voters of Fennimore for placing your trust in me as your next mayor. I am truly humbled by this opportunity to serve each of you, and I promise to work hard every day to honor the confidence that you have placed in me,” Krantz stated to the Fenimore Times. “Together, we will build an even better Fennimore for our families, businesses, and future generations. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

The 3rd Ward of the City of Fennimore will have a new alderperson as Todd Lippert unseated incumbent Marc Chiefari via write-in.

His election to the city council was not planned at all as Lippert stated, “came as a complete surprise.”

“I’ve always been a strong believer that we all have a duty to serve our communities to the best of our abilities. Fennimore has been my family’s home for nearly 14 years now and I look forward to serving on the council and being a part of its continued growth,” Lippert stated to the Times.

Three other city alderpersons seeking reelection, Jonah Roth, 1st Ward; Sarah Kretchman, 2nd Ward; and Pete Adam, 4th Ward, ran unopposed and won their seats.

Similar results for the School Board of Fennimore Community Schools positions as all three members, Sheila Ruchti, Herman Maier, and Matt Rutkowski won reelection to three-year terms after running unopposed.

JoAnn Wiederholt, running as a registered write-in candidate, was elected to the Grant County Supervisor District 7 position, covering the City of Fennimore and Town of Fennimore - Wards 1 and 2.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me through the votes I received in the Grant County Board of Supervisors, District 7 election. I am truly honored to serve our remarkable community on the county board,” Wiederholt stated via Facebook.

The position had been vacant as former supervisor and current alderperson for the city’s 4th Ward Adam Day recently resigned.
