PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK (Sept. 20-27) -

VOLLEYBALL

Alison Klug, setter (Fennimore, sr.) - had 27 assists in the Golden Eagles' 3-2 victory over Southwestern on Tuesday and 33 assists and two aces in a sweep over Cuba City on Thursday.

Danielle Treuthardt, outside hitter (Argyle, sr.) – had 11 kills, 4 blocks and five service aces to help the Orioles snap a 14-match losing streak to Black Hawk with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday to improve to 5-1 in the Six Rivers East.

Kate Noble, setter (Lancaster, sr.) – dished out 38 assists on Tuesday and 48 assists on Thursday in Flying Arrows’ wins over Platteville and Richland Center. The back-to-back victories allowed Noble and Lancaster (5-1 SWC) to pulled into a first place tie with Richland Center atop the Southwest Wisconsin Conference standings.

Kailee Kamps, setter (Belmont, sr.) - recorded 19 assists, 10 digs and six kills in the Braves' first Six Rivers West victory of the season, a 3-0 sweep Cassville on Sept. 20. Kamps served 11 of the team's 25 points in 25-12 game two victory.

 

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Trevor Wunnicke (Dodgeville) - finished first at a SWC meet against Richland Center (17:34) on Tuesday, then on Saturday finished fifth overall (15:40) among a talented field of 253 runners at Janeville's Midwest Invitational.

 

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Tricia Serres (Platteville, sr.) - set a new school record of 14:07 with a third-place finish at the Janesville Midwest Invite in a field that featured 287 runners. Also led the Hillmen to a dual meet win by winning last week's SWC dual with River Valley.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Zander Rothering (Richland Center) - scored four goals, three in a span of three minutes early in the second half as the Hornets overcame 2-1 halftime deficit and rallied to defeat Prairie du Chien 5-4. With the victory coupled with a Platteville/Lancaster loss, Richland Center improved 6-2-1 in league play and took sole possession of second place.

 

GIRLS SWIMMING

Clarie Friederick (Lancaster, jr.) - set new meet records in the 50-yard freestyle (25.89 seconds) and also won 100 backstroke (1:06.54) at a non-conference triangular with River Valley and Rockford Christian last Thursday. Friederick then turned in the team's top performance (4th place in the 50 free) at Saturday's Bishop Fenwick Invite in Oak Park, Ill. She also swam on all three Platteville/Lancaster relays at the Fenwick Invite.


GIRLS GOLF

Naomi Black (Darlington, sr.) - carded the lone score under 100 at the 2011 SWAL-SWC Meet at the Prairie du Chien Country Club to take medalist honors with her round of 96. She was the first Redbird to win the individual conference championship since her older sister, Natalie, won back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004, and she helped lead the Lady Redbirds to their first team championship since 2008. Darlington won the conference meet by 100 strokes over two-time defending champion Lancaster.
