GAME OF THE WEEK (Dec. 27–Jan. 2)

PREP BASKETBALL: Platteville Boys Basketball Holiday Jamboree and Girls Candy Cane Classic

PLATTEVILLE — Platteville High School will take its turn hosting the 14-team Holiday Jamboree prep basketball tournament Wednesday through Friday.

Fourteen high schools will take part in the three-day event that will feature 28 total games, both boys and girls varsity and JV.

Barneveld, Living Word Lutheran, Mineral Point, Mount Horeb, Richland Center and host Platteville will compete in the 3rd annual Girls Candy Cane Classic, a rotating Holiday tornament, that was held at Mineral Point and Richland Center the past two years..

Potosi, Black Hawk, Galena (Ill.) and Wauzeka–Steuben will compete in the small schools division of the first Platteville Boys Holiday Jamboree tournament, while Lakeland Union, River Ridge (Ill.), Clinton and host Platteville will compete for the Boys Holiday Jamboree large schools championship.

The event will tipoff Wednesday at 3 p.m. with a pair of JV girls basketball games. 

The Platteville girls’ varsity girls will host Living Word Lutheran Thursday night at 8:15, and will then play Barneveld on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the final girls’ game of the event.

The Platteville boys’ varsity will host Clinton Thursday at 8:15 p.m.and will then play either Lakeland or River Ridge Friday at either 3:30 or 5:45.

The Potosi boys’ varsity will face Wauzeka/Steuben at 3 p.m. Thursday and will face either Galena or Black Hawk Friday afternoon at either noon or 1:45 p.m.
