Tiger cross country takes two weeks off

Hillsboro cross country coach Ben Leis made a tactical decision when he pulled his teams from Saturday’s Dick McKichan Platteville Invitational.

By not taking part in Saturday’s race at Platteville, Leis was in turn giving his team’s a two-week break from competition.
“I decided not to go to Platteville this year so we wouldn’t have any meet for two weeks,” explained Leis. “We’re training to make one final push for the end of the year.”

Leis said he made the decision to pull out of the Platteville race after the Holmen Invitational on Sept. 23, in the midst of a stretch where Hillsboro competed in five events in an 18-day span.

The Tigers last competed on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Vince Lease Fennimore Invitational. They will return to action this Saturday at the Riverdale Invitational before traveling to New Lisbon on Oct. 16 for the Scenic Bluffs Conference Championships.
