Tiger wrestlers turn attention to conference meet
They close regular season with non-conference win

WESTON — The Hillsboro wrestling team wrapped up the regular season Friday night with a 48–30 non-conference victory over Weston/Ithaca.

Despite surrendering forfeits at 132, 160 and 220 pounds (as well as a double forfeit at 126), the Tigers dominated the match.

Mitchell Morris picked up a forfeit at 120 pounds to begin the night, then Mitch Beckwith (138), Keegan Martin (145) and Jacob Urban (152) recorded three consecutive pins to give the Tigers a 24–6 lead.

After giving up a forfeit at 160, Sebastion Miller pinned Weston/Ithaca’s Austin Kast, and Reece Hammer and Jacob Benish collected forfeit wins at 182 and 195 respectively as Hillsboro upped its lead to 42–12 and put the match out of reach.

The Tigers (2–3, 1–3 SBC) will now turn their attention to the postseason, which will begin with Saturday’s Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference Tournament that will be held at Pecatonica High School.

Hillsboro will compete in the WIAA Division 3 Royall Regional on Saturday, Feb. 14.
