Platteville Holiday Project gets foundation grant
PJ Holiday Project
Platteville Community Fund Chair Eileen Nickels (right) reviewed new books with members of the Platteville Holiday Project Committee (from left) Deb Jenny, Dana King, Cindy Martens, Lori Bahr and Amanda Wright.

The Platteville Holiday Project has received a grant from the Robert and Marian Graham Community Fund, of the Platteville Community Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc.

The monies were used to support the purchase of new books. Parent participants were able to select a new book for each child at the Platteville Holiday Project Toy Distribution, along with toy/gift items and hats, mittens and scarves.

The Platteville Holiday Project Committee was formed in October 1992 to coordinate and compliment holiday projects in the Platteville area. The committee works with the Platteville School District and with volunteers from several groups in the community.

The Platteville Holiday Project Committee is a formal organization that coordinates coat collection and distribution (includes hats, mittens, gloves and scarves); toy/book collection and distribution; food basket distribution; Adopt-A-Family; and Salvation Army Bell Ringers.

The Platteville Community Fund accepts grant applicants twice yearly. Grants are available from a number of endowments. Awards from the Robert and Marian Graham Community Fund support charitable, cultural and recreational programming offered to the Platteville community, with an emphasis on the youth of the community. Grants from the Platteville Community Fund support the arts, education, environment, health and human services and historical preservation.
