University of Wisconsin Extension will conduct a workshop focusing on grain marketing and land rental contract options Dec. 8 at the Richland County Extension Office, East Hall of the UW-Richland Campus.

The grain marketing portion will focus on grain price forecasts at this time and will include grain marketing and pricing considerations for the grain farmers have in storage and next year’s crop.  Dr. Brenda Boetel, UW Extension Grain and Livestock Economist will lead the marketing discussion.

Land rental contracts will be discussed and will focus on an overview of fixed lease and flexible lease options. The presentation will cover the different aspects between the two lease formats and the pros and cons of each. Ted Bay, UW Extension Agriculture Agent in Grant and Lafayette Counties will be leading the land rental contract discussion.

In addition to the two primary topics, information will be presented on projected costs for crops in 2016 and tools farmers can use to calculate their own costs. This portion will be presented by Adam Hady, UW Extension Ag Agent in Richland County.

Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m., with presentations to start promptly at 2 p.m. and will wrap up at around 4 p.m.
There is no charge for the workshop and it is open to farmers, landowners, and anyone interested in the topics being presented.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged so adequate handouts and refreshments can be planned.  Please pre-register with the Richland County Extension Office 608-647-6148, by Friday Dec. 4.
