Platteville boys win 20-team Lancaster Invitational

LANCASTER — Twenty teams congregated at Lancaster High School last Thursday afternoon for the early-season Lancaster Invitational.

Platteville won the boys team title with 110.5 points, beating out runner-up Dodgeville/Mineral Point (104) by 6.5 points.

The Platteville girls scored 41 points to place eighth in the girls standings. The host Flying Arrows won the girls team title with 102.5 points, well ahead of runner-up Westby (70).

Senior Marshal Rooney and brothers Cash Peterson, and sophomores Max Peterson and Louie Peterson, teamed up to win the boys’ 4x400 relay with a time of 3:45.71 to lead the Hillmen.

Louie Peterson, senior Liam Davis, and juniors Evan DeBuhr and Kaleb Osborne won the boys’ 4x800 relay at 8:55.26.

Junior Jesy Rinieker cleared 6 feet to win the boys’ high jump, while se- nior Tyler Sasse finished third at 5’8”. Sasse also placed second in the triple jump (39’6”).

Cash Peterson placed second in the 400 954.02), while Davis finished third in the 800 (2:14.61) and DeBuhr took third in the 3,200 at 10:36.26.

Senior Kody Millard placed third in the boys shot put at 46’9”.

On the girls’ side, with first-place finishes in four events and second-place finishes in three, the Lancaster girls scored 102.5 points to win the girls' team title.

The Flying Arrows finished 32.5 points ahead of second-place Westby, and 46.5 points ahead of third-place De Soto.

The Olmstead sisters of Kylie and Lexie combined to win three events and finish second in another, as senior Kylie won the 400 (1:00.78) and finished second in the 800 (2:31.51), while freshman Lexie won the 200 (27.65) and the long jump (16'10.25"), while also finishing fourth in the 400 (1:03.05) and the high jump (4'10").

Sophomore Maddy Driscoll won the girls 1,600 at 5:06.25, placed third in the 3,200 at 11:57.11 and third in the long jump at 16 feet.

Fellow sophomore Maddy Burr finished second in the high jump (5'0") and teamed with sophomores Jaylee Esser and Lexi Venson, and junior Margot Dhyanchand to finish third in the 4x100 (54.18).
