Avoca man dies in motorcycle accident

A 67-year-old rural Avoca man died when his motorcycle hit a tractor–trailer Saturday night.

Scott Mindham was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Wisconsin 80/133 and Iowa County P by the Iowa County coroner.

According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, Mindham was riding a motorcycle around 10:05 p.m. when it hit the side of the tractor–trailer driven by Daniel Kroll, 64, rural Highland.

Kroll was not injured.

Wisconsin 80/133 was closed for about 4½ hours during the crash investigation. The Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene.

No determination has been made as to whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors, the Sheriff’s Office said. Mindham was not wearing a helmet.

Mindham is the third traffic fatality in Iowa County this year.

Muscoda and Boscobel police and Muscoda Fire and EMS also assisted at the scene.

During the investigation, officers arrested a 37-year-old rural Muscoda man who drove around a Muscoda fire truck that was directing traffic at 133 and Howard Street and into the crash scene.

Steven Anderson was arrested for second-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
