Driver killed in crash on 35

Alf Kloppedal, 74, DeSoto, was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday morning, Dec. 14 on Highway 35 just south of Limery Road, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Kloppedal was driving a 2005 Ford SUV northbound on 35 at approximately 10:30 a.m., when the vehicle crossed the highway colliding with a culvert, a fence, and a Mediacom pedestal. The vehicle then struck a large tree.

Kloppedal was transported to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Crawford County Coroner Joe Morovits. Kloppedal, the only occupant in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt.

The SUV received severe damage and was towed from the scene by Bob’s Towing. Assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department at the scene were Tristate EMS, the Prairie du Chien Fire Department, the Bridgeport Fire Department and First Responders and Medlink Air.
