The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a Virgin Mary statue that was stolen from a residential yard north of Hillsboro at the end of July has been recovered.

Vernon County Crime Stoppers of Viroqua sent out an alert Aug. 13 about the statue being stolen. On Aug. 15, Sgt. Bruce Olson reported that the statue had been recovered.

Those who provide tips to police that lead to solving a crime can be eligible for cash payments from Vernon County Crimestoppers.
