CRAWFORD COUNTY - Crawford County is holding an Ag Clean Sweep and electronics recycling event Friday, Oct. 27, at the County Highway Shop just south of Seneca on Highway 27. Hours of collection are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Any Crawford County resident may participate who can provide proof of residency.
This event is a great opportunity for residents to properly dispose of many chemicals and substances that may pose serious health and environmental hazards. There is always a wide array of chemicals brought in to this event, some much more toxic than others. Now is a great time to go through your basement, garage, or your barn and bring in those unused, unwanted chemicals.
The electronic recycling allows a third party recycler to de-manufacture products such as televisions, computers, monitors, printers, keyboard, and DVD players to name a few. We must charge $5 for television sets. Many of these parts are able to be recycled. The recycler has proper state certification and provides the county with a certificate proving that all personal data has been properly destroyed.
This year, the county will be collecting CFL bulbs and fluorescent tubes. If a resident brings in more than 50 bulbs/ tubes a $.25/bulb fee will be charged. Please be as careful as possible, when transporting these bulbs.
There are certain items the county will not be collecting. This includes products like appliances, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and microwaves. The county will also not be collecting tires at this event.
If you have any questions regarding this collection event, please call the Land Conservation Department at 608-326-0270.
