Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for September are: Sept. 8-Story Hour 10 a.m./ Book Buzz Book Club 1:45-3:00 p.m. for kids in gr. 3-5; Sept. 11-Wii after school; Sept. 12-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour 10 a.m.; Sept. 13-Wacky Wednesday 3:45-5:00 p.m., all ages (technology); Sept. 14-Passport to Reading Book Club 3:45-4:45 p.m. for kids in gr. 1 & 2; Sept. 15-Story Hour 10 a.m./ Pages & Popcorn Book Club 1:45-2:45 p.m. for kids in gr. 6-8.
All About Bees
SHULLSBURG –Families with children through 5th grade come to the library for a fun, informational bee experience.  There will be a presentation from a local beekeeper, hands on items and interactive games.  There are two opportunities to take part in the family fun: Gratiot Annex Library Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10-11 a.m. or Shullsburg McCoy Public Library Thursday, Sept. 14 from 6-7 p.m.
Pecatonica Valley
Antique Days
DARLINGTON – Come on out to the 36th Annual Pecatonica Valley Antique Days on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10. Gates open at 6:30 a.m. both days with breakfast in the floral hall, which is new this year. Check out the flea market at 9 a.m. There will be plenty of games and fun for the kids with kiddie tractor pulls and sawdust pile. Registration for the antique tractor pull is at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the pull at 5:30 p.m. Check out the parade of power on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The cost to get in is $5 for both days.
Pleasant View
Church Open House
BELMONT – Join the Pleasant View Primitive Methodist Church for an Open House on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 2-4 p.m. at the church located at 24010 Center Drive Road, Belmont. A rededication of the church will be at 2:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.
Confirmation Sunday
DARLINGTON – Immanuel United Church of Christ will be celebrating Confirmation Sunday and Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. services. There will be a special service during church to recognize the confirmants.  After church we’ll be having a fun day with games to kick off the start of Sunday School followed by a potluck dinner.  All are welcome.  Join us for this celebration!
Lunch Bunch
DARLINGTON – The topic of discussion at the Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 meeting of Lunch Bunch will be, “Sleep Apnea.”  The gathering will take place in the County Board Room of the Lafayette County Courthouse from noon to 1:00 p.m.   Feel free to bring your lunch during this informal hour. Dale Cwynar, Certified Respiratory Therapist, Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, will be the presenter for this session.  The items discussed will be:  identifying apnea, causes of apnea, and treatment options for apnea.  Questions from the public are welcome. The public is welcome to attend the informal, free session sponsored in part by Lafayette County Home and Community Education (HCE), UW-Extension, and free- will donations.
Wiota Firemen’s Auxiliary
WIOTA – The Wiota Fireman’s Auxiliary will be meeting at the Wiota Town Hall on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.  The annual Halloween Party will be discussed.
Lafayette County Sew and Sews
DARLINGTON – The meeting of the Lafayette County Sew and Sews is always the 2nd Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Town Bank in Darlington. The next meeting will be Sept. 11. Everyone is welcome.
Belmont Fair
BELMONT-The Belmont Community Fair and School Event will be held from Monday, Sept. 11 to Sunday, Sept. 17.
Women’s Guild
DARLINGTON – The Immanuel UCC will be holding their Women’s Guild on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 12noon. Please bring a Home Spun item for Show & Tell. Committee for the day will be Cindy Pluemer, Heidi Rear, LuAnn Monson, Sara Gleason, Ann Reuter, Barb Douglas, Janice Ruf and Connie Ubersox. Everyone is always welcome to be with us.
Lafayette County Quilt Show
DARLINGTON – The Lafayette County Sew & Sews along with the Darlington Chamber Main Street Program will be hosting the Lafayette County quilt show on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17 at the Darlington Elementary/Middle School. The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for the show are $5 each or $7 for both days.
Friendship Fund Benefit Auction
DARLINGTON – Save the date for the Friendship Fund Benefit Auction, Saturday, Sept. 23 at the American Legion Hall. To donate new, antique or collectible items or services call Chris Virtue or Heather Buschor at Virtue Motors at 776-4431. Items accepted until time of auction. Donations can be mailed to: P.O. Box 102, Darlington, WI or dropped off at Virtue Motors until noon the day of the auction. After noon please bring items to the Legion Hall. For cash donations, please make checks payable to Friendship Fund.
