NO Steak & Chicken Dinner
DARLINGTON – The Darlington American Legion Post #214 will NOT hold its Steak & Chicken Dinner during the months of December and January.
Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for December are: Dec. 14-Passport to Reading Book Club @ 3:45 p.m., for kids in grades 1 & 2; Dec. 15-Story Hour @10 a.m., Book Buzz Book Club @ 1:45 p.m., for kids in grades 3-5; Dec. 19-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour @ 10 a.m.: Dec. 22-Story Hour @ 10 a.m., High School Book Club @ 1:45 p.m., Lego Club @  1:45 p.m., for ages 7-11; Dec. 23 & 25-Closed for Christmas; Dec. 26-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour @ 10 a.m.; Dec. 26-30-Holiday drop-in activities for kids!

McCoy Library Activities
SHULLSBURG –Bring self-addressed envelopes with your Letters to Santa on Dec. 8-18. We will send them to the North Pole!; Stop on over for some Christmas Crafts on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m.; For some early release fun, check out our Lego Challenge on Dec. 22 from 1:15-2:30 p.m.; The Homeschooling group will meet on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. for Learning at the Library.
Wiota Fireman’s Auxiliary
WIOTA – The Wiota Fireman’s Auxiliary will be meeting at the Wiota Town Hall on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.  Cheer baskets and Santa bags will be assembled.  Members are asked to bring two dozen cookies.  A Christmas potluck will follow.  All attending should bring a dish to pass.  Current and former Auxiliary members are invited to attend.
Drive-Thru Nativity
DARLINGTON – The First Baptist Church of Darlington will be having a Drive-Thru Nativity on Dec. 15 and 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is a free event featuring caroling, hot beverages and a live nativity scene all from the comfort of your car. The event will take place in the First Baptist Church parking lot at 15691 County K in Darlington.
Santa at Wiota
WIOTA – Santa will be at the Wiota Fire House/Town Hall on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at noon.
McCoy Library Afternoon Movie
SHULLSBURG – McCoy Public Library will also be hosting an early release movie for kids through 5th grade on Friday, Dec. 22 at 1:15 p.m.
Community Blood Drive
LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. The MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Sixteen year olds are accepted with parental consent. New donors must bring a photo ID and another form of ID. Bluebird Nest Nature Center
DARLINGTON – On Wednesday, Dec. 27, Michael Sinclair will present a program at the Bluebird Nest Nature Center, 308 Main Street, Darlington at 7:00 p.m. This will be Michael’s third presentation at the nature center. He has recently been attending school and working on the east coast. His program will be about the research he has been doing on the coastal islands. Please join us to catch up with Michael and his ever-growing knowledge of conservation. There is no fee for any programs at the nature center.
