Platteville Community Arboretum board member Dick Bonin is pictured with the PCA’s new DR Mower brush cutter. The self-propelled brush cutter was purchased in part with a $2,000 grant from the Platteville Community Fund. Bonin had been using his own tractor to maintain the trail sides for years with a rotary mower previously funded by the Community Fund. “The new self-propelled brush cutter will be used in areas along the trail that a tractor and pull behind mower cannot access,” said Bonin. “Today these areas are maintained by volunteers manually using clippers and weed whackers.  The brush cutter will reduce the time needed to maintain these areas by 50 percent or more.” The Platteville Community Fund is a resource for area nonprofit organizations whose programs and services are working for the betterment of our communities.
