TREE SAVED THIS van from plunging into the Pecatonica River. Darlington Police and Rural Medical Ambulance Service, were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on W. River Street on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10:55 a.m. The vehicle rolled away, left the roadway, and struck a tree adjacent to the Pecatonica River. The owner of the vehicle, Charlotte Kendall, age 82, of Darlington, tried to get into the rolling car to stop it but was thrown to the ground and sustained minor injuries. Kendall was transported to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.  Al’s Towing and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
