Throughout the month of January, Rountree Gallery’s Artist of the Month display at Clare Bank in Platteville will be featuring the artwork of Beth Hanley-Adams.
Beth always loved to draw, and as a young girl she joined 4-H and exhibited drawing, ceramics and leathercraft at the county fair. During her teen years, Beth began to consider herself an artist when her classmates commissioned drawings and she worked on the sets for school productions.
Under the tutelage of Greg Bykowski at Darlington High School, Beth gained invaluable skills and a life-long mentor. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and now resides in Shullsburg.
Beth occasionally takes on commissions, and her artwork is owned by several celebrities, including country singer David Lee Murphy, musician Travis Meeks from the band Days of the New, and actor Gerard Butler.
Beth has always been drawn to portraiture, and is heavily influenced by Celtic and Native American culture. She creates artwork for herself first, loving the challenge of new materials and techniques. Beth said “it only adds to my sense of accomplishment” when others appreciate what she creates. This exhibit will incorporate different mediums that she has worked in through the years, but look for new work from Beth in the future, as she plans to step out of her comfort zone and create abstract, industrial, and 3-D pieces.
Beth welcomes all to see a sampling of her artwork at Rountree Gallery’s Artist of the Month display at Clare Bank, located at 345 West Pine Street, Platteville. Artists are selected for this display from Rountree Gallery’s Annual Spring Exhibit.
