PLATTEVILLE — UW–Platteville police are increasing their safety belt enforcement patrols during the annual Click It or Ticket campaign through Sunday.

The state currently is running 21 fatalities ahead of last year, a 15-percent increase. Lack of seat belt use continues to be a major contributing factor in the death toll.

Click It or Ticket is the nation’s largest seat belt enforcement and education campaign, according to UW–Platteville Police Officer Carla DeLaMater.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the state are participating in the campaign, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
