Gary M. Coulthard, age 79, of Janesville died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Dec.10, 2016. He was born in Darlington on Dec. 9, 1937, the son of the late Lewis and Edith (Carpenter) Coulthard.  On Oct. 29, 1960, Gary married Bettie Risser at the United Methodist Church in Darlington. Gary grew up on a farm and helped his neighbors with farm work before moving to Janesville in 1957 to work at General Motors. He hired in with the Fisher Body Division and retired from GMAD in June of 2000 after 44.4 years of service.
Gary and his family moved to the edge of town where he could continue be in the country and continue his favorite hobby of gardening. He also enjoyed fishing and being around horses and dogs. He also learned to love his special cats.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Bettie; and four children: James (Patricia) Coulthard of Denmark, Laura (Dale) Jelinek of Janesville, Jesse (Laura) Coulthard of Waukesha, and Casey Coulthard of Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandchildren: Jenifer, Travis, and Katharine “Katie” Jelinek all of Janesville and Jessica Bliskey of Crivitz; and great-granddaughter: Emma Bliskey of Crivitz. He is further survived by his siblings: Lloyd (Deb) Coulthard of Janesville, Dorothy Bradley of Platteville, Ann White of Darlington, Lona Parkinson of Darlington, Joyce Stoddard of Darlington, Nancy Riesen of Darlington, Dixie Arthur of Janesville, Patricia (William) Ranum of Warren, Ill. and Rita Suthers of Platteville; his sister-in-law: Phyllis McKillip of Platteville; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law: John and Bertha Risser; siblings: Elaine Coulthard and Lewis Coulthard; niece: Viki Sue; nephew: John D. Coulthard; brothers-in-law: Leo Bradley, Phillip Parkinson, Donald Stoddard, Robert Riesen and Calvin Suthers.
A very special thank you to the doctors and staff at Beloit Clinic, Beloit Hospital and everyone in the “Cath Lab” for the wonderful care given to Gary. All of you are true Angels!
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral Home in Janesville with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation was on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
