Lyle J. Fischer, age 84 of rural Argyle passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 12, 2017 on his farm in rural Argyle. He was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Grant County, the son of John and Ruth (Koenig) Fischer. Lyle graduated from Boscobel High School in Boscobel in 1950. He was united in marriage to Joyce Reynolds on Feb. 11, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel. He worked at Fisher Body in Janesville from 1955-1956 and then began his lifelong journey as a farmer in 1957 in Mt. Hope. Lyle lived in the Mt. Hope area until 1960 and later in Fennimore until moving to his farm in Argyle in 1971 where he has resided since.
Lyle is survived by his wife Joyce at home; his four children: Scott (Debbie) Fischer of Arpin, Steve (Gwenn) Fischer and Tami (Greg) Isely both of Argyle, and Timothy (Katherine) Fischer of Evansville; eight grandchildren: John (Leslie) Fischer, Leta (Kirk) Gribble, Heath (Samantha) Isely, Brent (Alyssa) Isely, Zachary (Amy) Fischer, Jodi Fischer, Langdon Fischer, and Tate Fischer; six great-grandchildren: Olivia Isely, Reese Gribble, Dane Gribble, Ole Isely, Izabella Isely, and Vesper Isely; three brothers: Sidney (Betty) Fischer, Jerry Fischer, and Lonny (Lorraine) Fischer; and one sister: Judy (Harold) Schuppner. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Nancy Fischer; two brothers: Clayton and Leary Fischer; and one grandson: Joshua Fischer.
Lyle was a member of Lafayette County Christian Church in Darlington where he served as an elder. He was Argyle Township Chairman for 42 years and was a former member of Swiss Valley Board and National Milk Marketing Board Committee member. Lyle served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 until being honorably discharged in 1953 and then served in the Army Reserves from 1953-1959. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren creating memories that his family will remember forever.
A funeral service was held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lafayette County Christian Church (11560 Center Hill Road, Darlington) with Rev. Mark Gilberts officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. A visitation was held Friday, June 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lafayette County Christian Church and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
