Robert J. Fanta, age 82, of Richland Center, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Richland Hospital.
He was born on March 18, 1932 in Hillsboro the son of Robert and Helen (Osburne) Fanta. He was married on May 7, 1955 to Mary Ann Blaha. Robert liked to watch Nascar and football on television, and he liked to drive up to Hillsboro and visit Mary Ann and The “Other Place.” When he was younger he enjoyed wood working.
Survivors include; three children, Ramona (Frank) Meseberg of La Farge, Dennis Fanta (Delores McGuire) of Richland Center and Donna Walters of LaCrosse; seven grandchildren, Adrian (Christina) Meseberg, Nathan Meseberg, Amanda (Tim) Oman, Angela Fanta, Erica Fanta, John Cronk, Jessica and Jacob Walters; five great grandchildren; four siblings, Ronald (Jeanette) Fanta of Marshfield, Shirley Husom of Hillsboro, Mary Lou Filter of Kenosha and Linda (Geno) Rosko of Wonewoc; four brothers-in-law, Dick Minett of Union Center, Ron Hatfield of Hillsboro, Francis (Bonnie) Blaha of Hillsboro and Dewey Anderson of Janesville; one sister-in-law Janice (Brian) Trappe of Madison, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Fanta; three sisters, Betty Douglas, Karen Minett, Barbara Hatfield; one brother, Richard “Dick” Fanta; three brothers-in-law, Donald Blaha, Lenis Husom and Bennie Filter; one sister-in-law, Joann Anderson; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Stafford Funeral Home. Fr. Robert Letona officiated, with burial in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro at 1:30 p.,m. Visitation was held on Monday at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
