It was a bit of a breakout game for the freshman guard, as Payne scored 12 points and had nine assists and three steals. When it was over, Payne and his Indian teammates had a solid 59-44 win over the visiting Wildcats.

SENECA - After a rocky start to the season, the Seneca boys basketball team appeared to be back on track in an impressive 59-44 victory over the visiting LaFarge Wildcats Friday night.

Sophomore guard Ashton Swanson recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman guard Evan Payne scored 12 points and had nine assists and three steals.

Sophomore guard Kadin Wallin scored eight points and had seven rebounds, while senior forward Kolton Chambers scored six points and had seven rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring for the Indians with two points apiece were Lucas Kilburg, Tyson Sparks and Nate Klema.

For Lafarge, senior Reed Franke had 11 points, while senior Reece Franke scored nine. Junior Bryce Franks also scored nine pints.

Although Wildcats came back a coupe of times early in the first half, the Indians widened the lead to 12 points and went into the locker-room at halftime leading 37-25.

The Wildcats kept it closer in the second half, but were still outscored by the Indians 22-19.

Veteran coach Dave Boland had his troops on the same page for this one and their execution looked very good for the early season.

Seneca will travel to DeSoto today, Thursday Dec. 19, to take on the Pirates.
