Seneca boys basketball defeats Pirates, loses to Hornets

SENECA - The Seneca boys basketball team found themselves on Thursday, Jan. 7 beating the DeSoto Pirates 53-47.

Seneca’s Ashton Swanson led the team in scoring with 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds, but in this game,  he had some help from his teammates.

Kadin Wallin scored 11 points and also had eight rebounds, while Brock Wall scored 10 points.

Evan Payne scored eight points and also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Brennan Wallin scored six points and had three steals.

Mason Zink led Desoto in scoring with 15 points, Tanner Pedretti scored 11 and Landon Pedretti scored nine.

Versus the Hornets

The Seneca boys basketball team was ready for the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets Tuesday, Jan. 5, but wound up losing in overtime 56-50.

Seneca junior Ashton Swanson scored 22 points and sophomore Evan Payne scored 20 points, as the pair led the team in scoring. Swanson also led the team in rebounding with eight. Payne led the team in assists with four.

Shawn Kirchoff grabbed five rebounds and scored two points. Joey Oppriecht and Brennan Wallin each scored three points and Wallin had three steals.

The Hornets were led in scoring by Caydon Lomas with 20 points and Gavin Ralph with 19.
