BOSCOBEL - The Boscobel boys’ basketball team had their first conference win, 67-57, when they hosted rival Riverdale Thursday night, Jan. 14.
It was a fast paced game, with the two teams trading shots, though the Bulldogs had a distinct height and experience advantage over the Chieftains. The Bulldogs were able to establish their lead in the first half with multiple scoring shots close to the basket, heading into the half leading 31-27.
The offense pushed the lead further ahead in the second half, 36-30, as Ryan Latham continued to bring in an additional seven two-pointers at the net. Aiding the Bulldogs effort were several key shots missed late in the game by the Chieftains.
“Riverdale played tough and with a lot of heart,” said Coach Levi Esters. “Our boys played well, keeping the lead through the entire game. They did a great job of holding Riverdale back as they fought back.”
Leading in scoring were Latham with 25 points followed by Dallas Marks with 12.
Latham ran 5-6 at the free throw line, followed by Ethan Lucas who landed two of three attempts.
The win bumped up the Bulldogs to a 1-5 conference record and 5-5 overall.
