MUSCODA - The Riverdale high school wrestling season is in full swing with almost three weeks of practice complete.  The team is working hard in practice preparing for their season opening dual meet Friday night at Richland Center.  This year fifteen kids will make up the varsity and junior varsity squad.

The team traveled to Verona Friday night for a tough scrimmage against some top notch competition.  Joining Riverdale and Verona were Lodi, River Valley and Sauk Prairie.  Coach Campbell: “It was great to practice against other teams.  The kids got a great workout and we learned a lot about what we need to work on going forward.  The kids need to continue drilling hard what we are teaching them in practice and move that into live competition.  We have a great group of hardworking kids and I know the boys are looking forward to Friday night!”

The Chieftains will open their dual season on Friday at Richland Center.  Junior Varsity will begin at 6:30 with the Varsity following at 7:00.  This year the middle school wrestling team will also be competing.  They will wrestle the Richland Center Middle School team starting at 5:30.  Come out and see the entire 6-12 grade wrestling program in action!

On Saturday, the varsity and junior varsity head to the Reedsburg Duals.  Teams at the event include Reedsburg, River Valley, Westby, Mauston, La Crosse Logan, Monona Grove/McFarland and Oregon.  Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30.
