Jarod and J.J. Donar win conference titles at SWC-SWAL Clash

Marcus Theill took sixth place in the SWC-SWAL Clash on Saturday at Mineral Point.

Senior Jared Donar, and sophomore J.J. Donar each brought home conference titles from last Saturday's SWC-SWAL Conference Clash held at Mineral Point.
Jarod Donar won the 138-pound title by going 4-0 on the day, while J.J. Donar took top honors in the 113-pound weight class, also going 4-0 on the day.
For J.J., he followed up a first-round bye with a 15-0 technical fall over Tyson Wolf of Lancaster, then a third-quarter pin over Austin DeVoss of Dodgeville.
In his championship match, he won a 7-0 decision over Ryan Mindham of Boscobel.
Like J.J., Jarod also received a first-round bye, which he followed up with a first-period pin of John Hentrich of Belmont-Platteville and an 11-2 major decision over Nick Lechnir of River Valley.
In his championship match, Jarod had little trouble controlling Lancaster's Trenton Cornell, whom he defeated by a score of 18-1.
As a team, coach Bob Hahn's squad finished with 115 total points, which put them in ninth place among the field of 13 teams.
Winning the team title was Iowa-Grant, who scored a whopping 304 points, while Mineral Point (261) was second and Lancaster (234) third. All three of those teams will be competing this Saturday at the D3 Darlington Regional.
The Cubans will next wrestle at the D2 River Valley Regional this Saturday, for the right to advance to the Richland Center Sectional on Feb. 18.
Saturday's regional will begin at 11 a.m.
