LIVINGSTON — The Iowa–Grant offense is quickly becoming one of the better and more aggressive passing units in Southwest Wisconsin.
Under the direction of sophomore Isaac Anderson, the Panthers aired it out again this weekend to the tune of 171 yards passing and three TDs in Friday’s 29–18 victory over visiting Palmyra–Eagle.
Anderson completed 6 of 12 attempts for 171 yards and three scores, but was slowed temporarily by two interceptions. Through two games — both wins — Anderson has completed 17 of 24 passes for 426 yards and five touchdowns.
This week Anderson’s favorite target was junior Trent Milliken, who hauled in four passes for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Milliken’s 53-yard TD pass from Anderson, and Mikkel Wind’s ensuing extra point gave the Panthers a 7–6 lead.
The visiting Panthers (0–2) scored the game’s first touchdown on a Adam Sallis 2-yard run in the first quarter.
Palmyra–Eagle took a 12–7 lead into halftime after Nate Behr caught an 8-yard pass from Mason Rosczewski with 13 seconds left in the second quarter.
Senior fullback Cody Rider’s 7-yard TD run and a Rider conversion run early in the third quarter gave I–G a 15–12 lead.
Anderson connected with Milliken again early in the fourth quarter for a 7-yard TD pass and a 22–12 lead.
Palmyra–Eagle pulled with four on a Sallis 65-yard run a minute later. But Iowa–Grant put the game away with a 39-yard Anderson to Luke Nowak TD pass with 46 seconds left.
Coach Gary Allen’s Panthers (2–0) will begin SWAL play Friday at preseason league favorite Darlington. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
