WHITEWATER — The Platteville/Lancaster boys swim team continued its late-season surge by scoring 230 points to place fifth out of eight teams at Saturday’s Southeren Lakes Conference Championships.

After a 3–4 finish in SLC duals and a fifth-place finish at Saturday’s conference meet the Hillmen (4–5 overall) finished fifth in the final conference standings with 18 points.

Jefferson scored 234 points to edge out Platteville/Lancaster for fourth place Saturday by just four points. Whitewater (179) finished sixth.

“It was an exciting competition between us, Jefferson, and Whitewater,” said Hillmen head coach Matt Wunderlin. “At one point both those teams were in front of us, and then we pulled ahead of both of them, but Jefferson managed to come back to edge us out. Four points is the blink of an eye in a swim meet but I’m proud of how we as the underdog put up a fight.”
