Last night 12 teams from the swnews4u.com coverage area took to the court for the regional semifinal round of the WIAA volleyball playoffs.

    Southwest Wisconsin Conference (SWC) teams Richland Center, River Valley and Platteville all advanced in Division 2 to this Saturday's regional final round. Richland Center will host River Valley in one regional of the Richland Center Sectional. Platteville will travel to No. 1 Edgerton on the other half of the bracket.

    Southwesten Wisconsin Activities League (SWAL) co-champions Southwestern and Fennimore advanced in separate Division 3 sectionals, Southwestern with a 3-1 victory over SWAL rival Cuba City, and Fennimore with a narrow 3-2 victory over SWC tri-champ Lancaster.

    And in Division 4 Potosi and River Ridge will have a winner-moves-on rubber match this Saturday night at River Ridge High School in Patch Grove. The Six Rivers West rivals split their regular season series and shared the SRW title. No. 2 Potosi advanced to the regional final with a 3-1 victory over Seneca on Thurday. The Timberwolves move on to regional final with a sweep of North Crawford.

    Fellow Six Rivers West member Highland, the defending D4 state champion, advanced to face Wonewoc-Center in the regional final opposite River Ridge and Potosi.

    Scenic Bluffs champions Hillsboro (26-1) advance in the Brookwood sctional with a sweep of Kickapoo.
