A truly American play deserves truly American music to complete it. Thus, Elise Becker, Randahl Crawford and Andrew Sharp will play folk songs that reflect the many moods in “Of Mice and Men.” Songs will include “Ramblin’ Boy” by Tom Paxton, “Big Rock Candy Mountain” by Harry McClintock, and traditional songs such as “Wayfaring Stranger” and “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song).” 

Elise Becker is a singer/songwriter who grew up in and around Richland Center. She has sung at Driftless Books and Music in Viroqua, events in Richland Center and has played at the Spring Green General Store. Randahl Crawford is a very talented harmonica player who is often seen harmonizing in our area. And “Of Mice and Men” director Andrew Sharp will complete the trio. 

“We are very ready to tell this tale with style,” commented Sharp. “Light Designer Brandon Merkle has done a beautiful job illuminating the show with some really compelling looks. Gregg Schmitt has built a substantial bunk house that then joins with another set to make the ‘great barn’ described in the script. Our ‘Lennie’ is big, our ‘George’ is smart and our female lead is a flirt. Everyone has their part down and it will all make for a great show!” 

“Of Mice and Men” is a timeless tale of friendship and dreams during the Great Depression. A short but powerful book and play, it has become a part of the fabric of American storytelling and folklore.
