Public forum will host Assembly candidates
Bennett

The two candidates competing at the polls to represent the 49th District in the Wisconsin Assembly will attend a forum at the Boscobel Public Library next Monday.

On Nov. 1, the Boscobel Public Library and GFWC Boscobel Woman’s Club will host the question-and-answer forum for Republican incumbent Travis Tranel and Democratic challenger Jesse Bennett, the two candidates appearing on the ballot Nov. 8.

The forum will be held in the library. It begins at 7 p.m. and will last one hour. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The format of the discussion is to have attendees write their questions on cards. Discussion moderators Robin Orlandi, of the library, and Dicta Schoenfelder, of the Boscobel Women’s Club, will take turns reading the questions. The candidates will then have up to two minutes each to answer.

“I encourage everyone to attend,” says Orlandi. “Whether this is your district or not, it is important to know our elected representatives and to know their positions on the issues that matter to us. These are the people who will cast votes that make decisions about our taxes, our roads, our schools.”

The 49th Assembly District includes all of Grant County, parts of Richland County (Forest, Bloom, Sylvan, Akan, Dayton, Richwood and Eagle townships), and a small portion of Lafayette County (Benton Township).
