A 20-year-old Rice Lake man was arrested after an altercation with Platteville police early Sunday.

Drew Montana Striegel was arrested after an altercation at Camaraderie, 65 N. Second St., around 12:45 a.m.

Striegel has been charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, and charges of battery to a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct are being recommended to the Grant County district attorney’s office. Striegel also is being cited for underage drinking and underage being present in a tavern.

Striegel also was arrested on a probation hold, according to police. Striegel was sentenced to two years prison and two years extended supervision in April 2011 on a felony bail jumping charge, and sentenced to three years prison, three years extended supervision and three years probation in November 2011 on two charges of battery by prisoners.

According to police, during tavern checks officers were told about a man flashing “gang hand signs.” Officers tried contacting the man, but he went into another part of the bar. When asked for identification, the man started scuffling with officers, police said.

Grant County sheriff’s deputies and UW–Platteville police assisted at the scene.
