A 25-year-old Platteville man was given a citation and a warning Sunday night.

A caller reported to police “possibly illegal burning materials, based on fumes coming  from a bonfire” near 680 E. Main St. around 9:55 p.m.

City ordinances prohibit recreational fires with “scrap lumber, wood treated with preservatives, construction or demolition debris, furniture, fencing material” or “treated, coated, varnished, painted, glued or resin impregnated, or finished wood.”

Kyle A. Tomaszewski was given a warning for burning hazardous materials and cited for leaving a fire unattended.
