Tractor mishap injures farmer

A Mt. Sterling farmer was injured in a tractor accident on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 11:06 a.m. on Rounds Road, south of Mt. Sterling and west of Highway 27.

William (Bill) Boland was operating a 656 Farmall tractor pulling a chopper and green feed wagon. The tractor went off the right side of the roadway  into the ditch coming to rest against some small trees, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. Boland was ejected from the tractor and found laying in the ditch.

Boland was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the VA Hospital in Madison for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The tractor and implements did not sustain any damage.

Assisting at the scene was Ocooch Mountain Rescue Squad and Seneca First Responders.
